Hi, I graduated from Glasgow in 2012 and thoroughly enjoy the variety of general practice. I am particularly interested in ultrasound, medicine and emergency surgery and am currently working towards the RCVS Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in small animal medicine. Outside work I spend most my time exploring the countryside with my Labrador Elmo.'


Ruth Waterston

Senior Veterinary Surgeon

Hi I’m Ruth, I joined the Westway’s team in October 2019 and I work part time at our Darlington clinic. I enjoy all aspects of veterinary work a love the variety that being a GP can bring. I love all creatures great and small but I have a growing love for small furrie’s such as rabbits and hamsters. When I am not at work I am kept busy by my two you children and two boarder terriers who also love to spend the day at work with me. 


Lucie McKenzie

Hi, I’m Lucie, A veterinary surgeon here at Westway Veterinary centre, I graduated from Liverpool University in 2017. I have a love for all things orthopaedic and emergencies. I spend my time outside of work on the farm at home and spending time with my beloved pets.


Sophie Mae Neasham

Veterinary Surgeon

I completed my Veterinary degree abroad in Slovakia, at the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Kosice. As a student I spent a lot of time at Westways seeing practice. After finishing my degree I spent a small amount of time in equine practice before being  offered a position at the Darlington clinic. I now love it as a permanent member of the team! I spend my free time with my two horses, walking my dog, or curled up reading a book.


Emma Heywood

Veterinary Surgeon

Hi, I’m Emma. I qualified as a vet from Nottingham University in 2016 and have worked in small animal practice since then.  I really enjoy the variety my job brings every day but I particularly enjoy caring for the older pets.  When I’m not at work you will find me busy working on our sheep farm.


Gillian Holmes

Hi I’m Gillian, I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse from Askham Bryan College in 2018, I am a Senior RVN here at our Darlington Clinic. My favourite parts of the job are consulting, knowing every day will be different, getting to meet lots of different people and their pets and knowing the difference I can make to our patient’s.


Louisa Crabtree

Hi, I’m Louisa, a Senior Registered Veterinary Nurse and Clinical Coach at our Darlington clinic. I qualified in 2017 from Askham Bryan College and I am currently studying towards my certificate in Emergency and Critical Care. I enjoy all aspects of my role as an RVN; my favourites have to be emergency nursing and training our student nurses in the practical aspects of their roles.

I’m Frankie, a Registered Veterinary Nurse here at our Darlington clinic. I love all aspects of my job role; my favourite part is being able to nursing ill patients back to health. I rescued Betty, my French bulldog who loves to run around with our reception team

Hi I’m Becky, I’m a 2nd year student working towards becoming a registered veterinary nurse. I enjoy all aspects of my job, especially nursing ill patients and seeing them going home healthy! I rescued my black collie x Budd from the practice 7 years ago.

I take pride in caring for each animal as if it were my own and enjoy spending time with the patients, providing that extra love and attention they need.

Hello, my name is Kayrie. I am an auxiliary nurse at our Darlington clinic. My favourite part of my job is nursing animals through their recovery from surgery. From leaving school my dream has been to work with animals and this year I will be starting my veterinary nurse training. I love the variety of pets we see in the clinic from cats, dogs to ferrets and pigeons, it makes every day different and exiting.

Hi, I'm Emma, I have worked for Westway Veterinary Centre for 4 years now as part of the customer care team and I am now a senior receptionist. I love all aspects of my job and enjoy making our clients happy and meeting their every needs. I have two dogs at home, an English Springer Spaniel and a Staffordshire Cross.
